Megabowl is a management consulting business based in Melbourne that works with small and medium-sized businesses to deliver real cut through and improvement. Our speciality is to make organisations run better - to remove the business crippling confusion and errors by implementing rules and processes to provide clarity, confidence and profit. It might not sound sexy but it simply works.
At Megabowl, we get into the business of our clients. We quickly identify what makes the business special and then set about making the business run laser sharp to maximise value for stakeholders.
Entrepreneurs start businesses with dreams, dare and passion.
Entrepreneurs typically don’t spend much time developing rules, systems and controls. Meanwhile start-ups and small businesses find themselves swimming in a sea of chaos. It can involve a sense of excitement but when customer complaints are up and profits are down, your business becomes a major source of stress. Hope is not a strategy.

SERVICE OFFERING
Depending on the requirements, Megabowl can engage in one of three ways.
1. ADVISORY BOARD
High level advising role. 1-2 days/month including attending monthly board meetings. 12 month arrangement.
2. ACTIVE ADVISORY
Engaged in the business working with staff, given access to systems, files, etc. Getting hands on to address issues, fix problems and implement lasting solutions to drive better margins and profits.
Typically 5-10 days/month.
3. PROJECT WORK
A deeper and more singular focus to deliver a major outcome. Typically 10-20 days/month for 3-6 months.
ABOUT
Megabowl was started in 2022 by Ashley Turner after 25 years of helping start, build, run and sell the family business. Megabowl exists to help small businesses become better and ensure business owners get the rewards they deserve.
I’m a business head with a passion for problem solving, an ability to “turn the dial” and get things done.
I’m about making a difference.
I know that owning or leading a business can be overwhelming and stressful.
My experience and knowledge come from being a co-founder and director of ANNEX Foods – an Australian health & snack food business. Started from the kitchen table in 1997. For 25 years I created, refined and managed the full range of business from product development, sales, logistics and operations to IT, HR and finance.
Along the way we faced (the usual) incredible challenges, bought and integrated businesses, achieved amazing growth, restructured, relocated, refinanced and eventually sold to private equity in 2021.
I’m now excited to have started Megabowl Management Consulting. Helping business owners achieve the best results possible towards the business of their dreams.

BTW, the name Megabowl comes from the movie Semi-Pro starring Will Ferrell. It’s about Jackie Moon, the owner of a struggling basketball team, The Flint Tropics, having a dream of playing in the NBA. Despite Jackie’s ambition and huge efforts, he goes about it all the wrong way. For starters, he’s the owner, head coach, starting power forward, promoter and pre-game announcer. He stages desperate stunts to attract fans - wrestling a bear, jumping 47 feet of ball girls on roller-skates and letting a camel loose in the stadium.
Once they hit rock bottom, the players intervene and have one of the better credentialed players, Monix, take over as “offensive and defensive co-ordinator” (ie. coach). Monix gets the team to practice rigorously with proper drills and tactics. The Tropics start to win every game. This also releases Jackie Moon to do what he does best - inspire and promote his team. The Tropics play the top team in the last game and need to win to reach their goal of finishing in fourth place. Jackie declares it “the Megabowl” - pumping it up like the biggest game in history. The Tropics win the game in a thriller.
Although Semi Pro is a ridiculous comedy movie, it draws strong similarities with entrepreneurship and small business - have a dream, set goals, get the right people in the right roles, seek help where needed and provide inspiring leadership.
